BOOK NOW

Planning a multi-country African safari across three different nations requires careful preparation. To ensure your 15 day East Africa circuit package runs completely smoothly, please review these vital border, luggage, and health requirements before you travel. Gorilla trekking and serengeti safari

    1. Strict Baggage Policy (Soft Duffel Bags Only)
Because this itinerary includes a regional flight from Uganda to Kenya, you will be traveling on small domestic bush planes. These aircraft have strict weight and space limits.
      • The Rule: All passengers are restricted to a maximum weight of 15 kg (33 lbs) per person.
      • The Bag Type: You must use soft-sided duffel bags without rigid frames or wheels. Rigid, hard-shell suitcases cannot fit inside the small cargo pods of bush planes and will be rejected at the airstrip.

    2. Multi-Country Visa Requirements
Crossing borders seamlessly on your mid range multi country African safari requires securing two distinct visa types online before your arrival date:
      • The East Africa Tourist Visa ($100 USD): This is a single, joint visa that covers entry into both Uganda and Kenya. You must apply for this online through the visa portal of the country you enter first (Uganda). It allows multi-entry access between these two nations.
      • The Tanzania Tourist Visa ($50 USD / $100 USD for US Citizens): Tanzania is not part of the East African joint visa system. You must apply for a separate single-entry tourist visa online via the official Tanzania Immigration portal before arriving at the Isebania border crossing.

    3. Yellow Fever Vaccination & Health Mandatory Rules
To protect ecosystems and local communities, cross-border health inspections are strictly enforced between Kenya and Tanzania.
      • The Certificate: A physical, valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (Yellow Card) is a strict legal requirement to cross the Isebania border into Tanzania. Health officers will examine this card alongside your passport.
      • Malaria Prevention: This East Africa gorillas and big five tour travels through varying altitudes, including humid rainforests and open savannas. We highly recommend consulting your travel clinic for effective malaria prophylactic medications prior to departure.

    4. Currency and Tipping Guidelines
    • Cash is King: While luxury lodges accept credit cards, local Maasai villages, souvenir shops, and remote community walks operate strictly on cash. Bring crisp, clean US Dollar bills printed after 2017 (banks in East Africa do not accept older bills, or bills with tears and stamps).
    • Tipping Culture: Tipping your safari guide and lodge staff is customary and deeply appreciated. As a mid-range standard guideline, expect to tip your professional driver-guide roughly $15 to $20 USD per day from the group pool, and forest trackers or porters roughly $10 to $15 USD per activity.
