When you travel to the IK or Karamojong, you will visit their houses, where you will meet elders, discover their history, tour homesteads, and learn about how they go about their daily lives. Getting there

Kidepo Valley National Park can be reached by good safari vehicles and is 10 to 12-hour drive from Kampala. Kidepo Valley National Park may be reached by two alternative routes: one is from Kampala/Entebbe via Jinja, Mbale, Kapchorwa, Nakapiripirit, Moroto, Kotido, and Kaabong District; the other is from Kampala/Entebbe via Luwero, Nakasongola, Karuma, Gulu, Kitgum, Karenga, and Kaabong.

Several airline companies offer flights to the Kidepo Valley National Park for both luxury travelers and those who detest long-distance travel. From Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip, flights to Kidepo Valley National Park take just 2 hours and 30 minutes, and Apoka Airstrip is located inside the park.

When to visit Kidepo Valley National Park at its best:

Kidepo Valley National Park is accessible to visitors throughout the year because it is always open for tourism-related activities. The dry season, which lasts from June to September and December to February, is when people should travel. This is the time of day when the park has little rain and lots of sunshine. Because of the low foliage and easy access to the game trails, it is easier to see the animals.

Even during the rainy months of March through May and October through November, visitors can still visit Kidepo Valley National Park and enjoy it. In contrast to other national parks where rainfall is abundant, Kidepo experiences brief periods of rain, followed by periods of sunshine that dry the ground. While certain game tracks are wet and slick, making it difficult to access some park areas, the vegetation is dense, making it difficult to see any wildlife
