This 9-day safari is designed for travelers who want maximum wildlife variety. It begins in Samburu National Reserve, home to the “Samburu Special Five” (Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Somali Ostrich, and the extraordinary Gerenuk that stands on its hind legs to eat). You’ll then visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy to see the last two Northern White Rhinos and the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Next, Lake Nakuru offers flamingo-covered shores and both black and white rhinos. The journey culminates with three full days in the Maasai Mara, tracking lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and buffalos across the endless plains. Perfect for photographers, conservation lovers, and first-time safari-goers seeking the ultimate Kenyan wildlife experience.
Morning:Depart Nairobi at 07:30 AM, driving north past Mount Kenya and crossing the equator into the rugged landscapes of Samburu.
Afternoon:Arrive at your luxury lodge along the Ewaso Nyiro River for lunch. Head out on a 04:00 PM game drive to spot wildlife coming to drink at the riverbanks.
Night:Dinner and overnight at Sarova Shaba Lodge (or similar).
Morning/Afternoon:Dedicate a full day to tracking Samburu’s unique wildlife: the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Somali Ostrich, and Gerenuk (the gazelle that stands on its hind legs to graze). Spot leopards resting in the doum palm trees along the river.
Night:Dinner and overnight at Sarova Shaba Lodge (or similar).
Morning:After breakfast, take a short drive south to the foothills of Mount Kenya, entering Ol Pejeta Conservancy by lunchtime.
Afternoon:Visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary and set out on a afternoon drive to see the conservancy’s black and white rhinos.
Night:Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp (or similar).
Morning:After breakfast, drive down into the Great Rift Valley, making a stop at Nyahururu’s Thomson’s Falls before arriving at Lake Nakuru for lunch.
Afternoon:Take an afternoon game drive around the lake shore to spot rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, and flamingo flocks.
Night:Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge (or similar).
Morning:Drive south through the floor of the Rift Valley, passing through Narok and entering the plains of the Maasai Mara.
Afternoon:Arrive at your lodge for lunch. Set out at 04:00 PM for an afternoon game drive to spot lions and cheetahs across the savanna.
Night:Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge (or similar).
Morning/Afternoon:Enjoy three complete days exploring the Maasai Mara. Track big prides of lions, watch cheetahs hunt, follow elephant herds, and look for leopards along the seasonal streams.
Night:Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge (or similar).
Morning:Take a final sunrise game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. Check out and begin your drive back to Nairobi.
Afternoon:Arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon, transferring directly to the airport for your onward flight.
